In our opinion, 2017 was a cracker and we can't wait to see what 2018 has in store for us! We got to test a myriad of cars, from budget beaters, to luxury SUV's, to power monsters! We can't say what our absolute best car was but what we have done is handpicked 10 of our favourite cars. Have a look and let us know what you think on our Facebook page. If you happen to own any of these cars, we would love for you to add your very own driver review - no one knows a car better than the people who drive them on a daily basis.

In no particular order, below is our TOP TEN OF 2017:

2017 Jaguar F-Type 3.0 Supercharged S Convertible AT

The Jaguar F-Type – a ‘Goddess’ of a sports car

2017 has seen a few ‘small, affordable’ car launches that have showcased really tech-rich cars, making it a bit harder to justify the price difference between them and your traditional premium-brand cars. For us, if you are going to spend over a million Rand on a car, best make sure it’s both premium and a phenomenal drive – the Jaguar F-Type is exactly that!

"This award-winning car looks great, handles phenomenally well, but best of all, sounds like heaven on earth." - THE TORQUE

2017 Volkswagen Golf 1.0 TSI Comfortline

Size doesn’t matter – It’s how you use it!

We’ve all grown up associating vehicle prices to a car’s spec and trim, but more importantly to its engine size. The more you pay, the bigger engine you get. So, is paying R304 200 for a car that only has a 1.0l engine worth it?

"The new Golf's drive is sublime. In the case of our test car, the 1.0 TSI Comfortline is so good that if we had to buy a car tomorrow, this would be the one!" - THE TORQUE

2017 Nissan Navara 2.3D SE 4X4 MT D/C

The All-New Nissan Navara SPRINGS into an entirely new space

The all-new Nissan Navara receives a number of great updates, but there's one in particular that changes the game completely!...

"The combination of a fuel efficient and powerful, wide power-band engine, along with a strong chassis supported by segment-exclusive spring suspension on all 4 wheels, forces you to consider the Navara, even if you aren't the biggest Nissan fan." - THE TORQUE

2017 Renault Clio RS Trophy Edition

A baby car that forces you to be all grown-up!

For the first time ever, a Trophy version of the Renault Clio is available in SA and we can only say one thing: THANK YOU!

"Launch control engaged! What happens next, can only be described as a brief insight into the evil one's morning routine; the Trophy's Akrapovic twin tail-pipes sound like Satan himself, gargling with Listerine!" - THE TORQUE

2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet - E220d

Step into the good life with the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet

Completing the E-Class line-up, Mercedes-Benz recently launched their cabriolet derivative, and it’s proven to be our favourite…

"Not only is this car our favourite E-Class (it's better looking than its saloon counterpart and the soft-top roof is so good, there's no need to go for the Coupe), in our opinion, and here comes the bomb drop, it's our favourite Mercedes-Benz cabriolet!" - THE TORQUE

2017 Suzuki Ignis 1.2 GLX (Manual)

Suzuki claims that their new Ignis is a car "Like No Other" and they're right! It isn't!

The marketing blurb will tell you it’s a “Compact Urban SUV”, but in reality, it is a vertically stretched, mini hatchback. That said, this car’s total offering is like no other on the market.

"It's as though the Suzuki Ignis refuses to be your traditional small car, adopting many of the features you generally find in much bigger, way more expensive cars." - THE TORQUE

2017 Ford Fiesta ST200

The limited edition Ford Fiesta ST200 - will it prove to be a "future classic"?

THE TORQUE was fortunate enough to test drive the limited edition Ford Fiesta ST200. As expected, it was awesome! What we didn't expect is that it sparked one of our biggest internal debates yet…

"There's nothing quite like being in complete control of a car. And that's exactly what you get with the ST200 - COMPLETE CONTROL." - THE TORQUE

2017 Range Rover Velar D300 HSE R-Dynamic

With the all-new Range Rover Velar, less is more. Oh, so much more!

Range Rover’s all-new mid-sized SUV launched locally this week and THE TORQUE was there to experience these beautiful vehicles first hand. Our pick of the bunch, the mighty D300HSE R-Dynamic....

"With the Range Rover Velar, you're not just buying a capable luxury SUV, you're buying a work of art!" - THE TORQUE

2017 Kia Sportage 2.0 EX PLUS

The new Kia Sportage Plus - not your average SUV

In the super competitive world of SUV’s, manufacturers are pushing hard to differentiate themselves, often packing their cars full of features. The Kia Sportage Plus range on the other hand, offers exactly that, along with something a lot more important - style!

"The specs on the KIA SPORTAGE EX PLUS are impressive, but what blew us away the most about the all-new Sportage, is the overwhelming sense of quality and style." - THE TORQUE

2017 Roush Stage-3 Ford Mustang 5.0 V8

A Roush Stage-3 converted Ford Mustang 5.0 V8 - the most powerful muscle car in SA!

What happens when you take an already much-loved and powerful muscle car, the Ford Mustang, and hand it over to Ford’s performance division for a Roush Stage-3 conversion? You’re about to find out!

"The Ford Mustang 5.0 V8, complete with Roush's top of the range performance upgrade - a stage-3 conversion, is in short, the most "bad-ass" car we have ever seen - and driven!" - THE TORQUE

And that's a wrap! Thank you to all of our fans and partners for fantastic 2017! Here's to an even better 2018! If you haven't already registered on THE TORQUE - do so now!
